CRI:  “Yang Gui Fei” Changes Director

The film production team of “Yang Gui Fei” has fired South Korean director Kwak Jae-yong.

Set in the Zhoupu Arsenal, based in Shanghai during the period of the Republic of China, “Disappeared Bullets” tells the tale of a series of murder cases caused by ‘ghost bullets’.

CF: ’Full Circle’ to be Screened on Mother’s Day

“Full Circle,” the latest production of Zhang Yang, who is regarded as a member of the sixth generation of Chinese directors, is slated for release on Mother’s Day (May 8).

To support their old friends, award-winning actresses Siqin Gaowa and Xu Fan and actors Chen Kun and Liao Fan also appear in cameo roles in the movie.

On the local film side, “Love” contributed $1.61 million in box office tickets this week to its total $20.55 million through 21 days in release. Its expected mainland gross should top $24 million. Staring Richie Ren and Tengger, “Tales of Two Cities” grossed $1.48 million in this week. “Fengkuang De Chunzei” (”Crazy Stupid Thief”) the latest entry of “Fengkuang” franchise, came in third on the domestic films chart this week with$1.34 million. “I Do”made a disappointing $0.81 million this week. Its predicted to cross $12.69 million in the next week.

Stephen Chow’s “Kung Fu Hustle” co-star Bruce Leung recently lashed out at Chow’s film company Star Overseas over a contractual dispute.

Eva Huang [Shengyi], who worked with Chow in 2004’s “Kung Fu Hustle”, left Star Overseas after an unhappy legal tussle over contractual issues, as did Kitty Zhang [Yuqi], who starred alongside Chow in his 2008 film “CJ7″.

CRI: “Welcome to Shama Town” Promotes in Chengdu

Stanley Tong’s Vanguard will star Donnie Yen and Zhang Ziyi and begin filming next year it was announced yesterday. The film is a military action drama and the script has been three years in development. Rumors of Song Hye-Kyo and Wentworth Miller of Prison Break joining the cast have not been confirmed. Vanguard is the first project of a new company, Big Pictures Film Group(?), formed in collaboration with Eric Tsang announced at the SIFF. (Xinhua)

“I have appeared in over a hundred films and tried playing virtually every type of character so I think I have made the grade as an actress,” said Kwan at an event in Beijing.
